Accepting these terms
By downloading Altar, signing in to your Account, or using any of its panels inside After Effects, you agree to these terms. If you are accepting on behalf of a company, you confirm you have authority to bind that company. If you do not agree, do not install Altar.
Your account
An Account is required to use Altar. You are responsible for your credentials, activity through your Account, and the AI provider key you connect to Altar Chat. Altar never charges you for AI inference. You bring your own key, and your use of that key is governed by your agreement with your provider.
You must be at least 16 years old to hold an Altar Account.
Your work
Your projects, comps, renders, and assets you save to Vault stay yours. Sidequest Plugins claims no ownership over work you create with Altar. Saving an asset locally or to a Team Library does not transfer ownership to us.
When you add an asset to a Team Library, you confirm that you have the rights needed to store and share it with that team. You allow us to host, process, preview, and deliver the asset only as needed to operate the Team Library. Team members may use shared assets within the permissions and policies set by their team.
Plans and purchases
Altar may be offered through free, one-off, or subscription plans. The features, team access, prices, taxes, billing period, and update entitlement shown when you purchase or subscribe form part of your order. We may introduce or retire plans, but changes do not alter a completed one-off purchase or a current paid subscription period without notice.
One-off purchases are not recurring. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel; you keep access until the end of the paid period. If something is broken on our end, write to billing@motionaltar.com within 14 days and we will make it right.
Acceptable use
Altar is a tool for legitimate motion-design work. You may not upload or share content you do not have the right to use, use Team Libraries to distribute unlawful material, reverse-engineer the plugin except where applicable law expressly permits it, or use Altar to produce unlawful content. We may suspend access for material violations, and we will tell you why where the situation allows.
Intellectual property
The Altar name, plugin code, panel designs, and documentation are owned by Sidequest Plugins or our licensors. Purchasing a plan licenses you to use the included Altar features; it does not transfer ownership of the product. Your Vault assets remain yours or your licensors’. You keep ownership of feedback you send us, but grant us permission to use it to improve Altar.
Limitation of liability
Altar is provided as is. Within the limits the law allows, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including lost time, lost work, or output produced by a third-party AI provider through your key.
Our total liability for any claim is capped at the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.
Termination
You may stop using Altar at any time. We may suspend access for non-payment or material violations of the acceptable use clause, with notice where the situation allows.
Changes to these terms
We update these terms when Altar changes. Material changes are posted at motionaltar.com and, where we have your email, sent to Account holders before they take effect. Continued use after that date is acceptance.
